Step 1 - Confirm Eligibility
Your child must reside in Florida and be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year. If your childās fourth birthday falls between February 2 and September 1, you may choose to enroll them that year or the following year when they are 5.

Step 2 - Gather Required Documents:
- Proof of Childās Age: Acceptable documents include an original or certified copy of the childās birth certificate, passport, or immunization record signed by a physician.
- Proof of Florida Residency: This can be a utility bill, driverās license, or pay stub with your current address.
Step 3 - Create an Account on the Family Portal:
- Visit the Early Learning Family Portal.
- Click on āApply for Voluntary Prekindergarten.ā
- Register to create a user account by providing a valid email address and creating a password.
Step 4 - Complete and Submit the Application:
- Log in to your account.
- Fill out the VPK application form with the required information.
- Upload clear copies of the required documents. Ensure all four corners of each document are visible, and the details match the information provided in your application.
Step 5 - Await Application Review:
- Your local Early Learning Coalition will review your application, which may take up to 10 calendar days.
- You will receive an email notification regarding the status of your application.
Step 6 - Receive Certificate of Eligibility:
- If approved, log back into the Family Portal to access and print your childās Certificate of Eligibility.
- Be sure to sign and date the certificate so it will be valid for enrollment.
